Hi,

One of the first things Intel emphasized when the P4 first came out,
was the correct order of loading the OS and subsequent drivers.

They had a very dramatic demonstration that I still remember, because
it could speed the video up or not by as much as 80%.

Once you load the OS, the very next thing to load is the main board
INF/AGP files and nothing else, then the Video card divers, and then
any and all other drivers ( snd, lan, mdm, etc.)

loading in this order will ensure the best performace for your video card.
If that was not the order followed, then you may want to wipe and reload.

Hope this helps
Joe Lore

 Greetings Gurus,
With the great help from so many of you, I got my first build project up
and running. After a few weeks of "low-key" usage, I decided to put it to
the test and loaded the DOOM3 game. Although the first 3 or 4 tries kept
hanging up when I put in the 3rd cd, it finally loaded. but when I started
the game it would load the game up to the point of playing then kick me back
to windows desktop with a grey background instead of the image that's
usually there. DOOM 3 is a very demanding game as far as the graphics,
bitmapping, shading, etc. so I figured the agp settings needed to be
adjusted. Due to my impatient "get-r-done" state of mind, instead of trying
one change at a time, I changed 3 or 4 different settings both in the card
and the bios such as apeture (4x to 8x since my card is supposed to opperate
at either) and another "speed" setting from normal to turbo. When I
rebooted, I didn't even get a signal to my monitor so I couldn't get into
bios to restore previous settings. Sooo... next I used the mobo jumper to
reset the bios(?) and was able to get a signal to monitor and enter the
bios. No matter what settings I try (last working, failsafe, normal) Windows
won't load. If I try failsafe or last working, it acts as though it's
loading and the progress bar moves from left to right as it should but when
it gets all the way across (a solid bar) it hangs there and does no more.
Will I need to re-install windows since I used the mobo jumper? not sure
where to go from here.
