There have been reports that I have read about XP
having a problem with "floppy disk is not properly
formatted" error even though the disk have been
formatted, even in an XP system.

Go to the Device Manager, Floppy Disk
Controllers, Properties and selected Disable.
Shutdown, reboot, enable the controller; this should
solve the problem.
