>I have narrowed down the problem to my network only functioning intermittently to my Win 98 SE machine. I do not change the settings from when it does work to when it doesn't work. It seems unable to regularly log in to the SMC router/switchbox. When I log in to the router's control panel it shows the Win 98 SE machine as being connected, and I can get on to the Internet with it. However, in the event log it will show the Win Me machine as having successfully logged on, but it won't show that for the Win 98 SE machine. This morning I booted the Win 98 machine up at about 7 AM. I did not use it until about 9:07 AM, but the event log showed that it logged in to the router/switchbox at 9:02 AM. The network was working just fine. Somehow, long after I booted up, and while it was sitting unused, it logged on. Later, I had to do a restart, and it would not log on for the rest of the day. Either there is a hardware or software problem on the Win 98 machine or the router/switchbox has a problem. How can I narrow it down further to determine which it may be?
