modem (don't  know why), I had to leave their modem in place, and install the
newer modem  in another slot - daisy chained to the old one.  I forget the

Ken,
   Device manager does show a yellow question mark by "PCI  multimedia audio 
device"  
  and has no drivers listed for it. I have no PCI cards installed  except the 
modem and video
  cards so this will be my next mystery to solve! However, I posted  earlier 
that a different   
  modem is now installed and working so that part is fixed.
