The Y2K cards replace the timer functions of your BIOS. They
should not have any other significant effect, except that they eat
a slot. You might check the card manufacturer's web page to see if
there is a problem with Compaq. If you have a Flash BIOS, you
might be able to get an upgrade from Compaq, which is a better
solution. There might also be third party replacement bios
upgrades available in PROM. Unfortunately the only sources i've
found have not responded to requests that they email specs or
quotes.
