This is not a new SCSI. SATA (Serial ATA) is a higher speed version of the
IDE interface (ATA) implemented in a serial transmission configuration. The
cable is much narrower then IDE, but it is also thicker. My experience with
SATA is that while the cable is a little easer to route, the connector is
NOT very sturdy in retaining the cable. I don't mean that the connector is
likely to break, but that the cable may pop out. Others on the list may have
a different view.
