Hi there.

I have just bought a PCI socket modem. At first, I was getting a lot of
trouble to have it recognised by Wi dows. It is a Prolink 56K PCI internal
modem. The type of just plug and play, without the need to hassle with any
jumpers or IRQ settings. It is working fine, but the only odd thing though it
has chosen to install itself on COM3 even though COM1 was free!

I suggest you have it installed with the programs and drivers you got on the
diskettes accompanying the modem. In the last case, it doesn't work, return
it to the dealer and get a new one.

Kind regards
Shakeel
