Check on the company's problems and technical support history. I'm sure
there are many sources so if you do a Google search you should find
something either positive or negative on a particular vendor.

Either buy locally from someone you trust or deal with an online company
that has good ratings. From what I've heard, Dell has a good reputation for
service and support, but they like to sell a little more machine than what
you really need. Do your research and determine the exact specs of what you
want before calling. Stick to your choices, unless of course, they offer a
free upgrade.
