XP profile corrupt

I had to reboot the other day after TurboTax installed an online upgrade and
the administrator profile would not open after the restart giving a message
that the profile was corrupt, a temporary one would be used, and that all
setttings would be lost when i logged off.

I've tried restoring the system back 24 hours to 1 week to no avail. I would
love to get the settings back for that profile. Any ideas?  thank you
