Com Port gone AWOL

I do not know what I did, but all of a sudden my COM port that is my serial port
has gone missing!

It was COM port 1, mouse was #2, and modem was #3. I tried reinstalling it but
the device that I am trying to connect to it cannot see it. (Palm top) It used
to see it and I do not know what happened.

I would greatly appreciate any advice.
