I have an old 486 Globalyst 360 TPC computer with a Western Digital 420 MB
IDE hardrive.I've been trying to install a larger drive, a 1.6G,then a 2.0.
(my computer BIOS has a 2.1G limit) Both drives were used (working pulls) but
checked error free with the WD Data Lifeguard Tools utility.
The 1.6G drive ran a couple days then stoppped.Same happened with 2.0G drive.
I did a diagnostic on both drives with the WD Lifeguard utility disk and it
now reported errors on both disks, with a WD error code and stated I would
have to send them back to WD if I wanted them repaired.
Maybe they were both bad, but if they were not, my question is:
1) Is something in the computer causing these errors, if so, what?
2) Comments pro or con on using this utility to transfer data from one drive
to another and installing a drive.
