Diane,

I can't give you advice on a Lexmark but I can
tell you that I refill HP cartridges all the time.

#1 Use a high quality ink.
#2 Never refill a cartidge more than twice.
#3 Have LOTS of paper towels on hand
     when you do the first couple of carts.
     At least until you get the hang of it <grin>
