The best thing to do is wipe everthing off and
reinstall windows clean.

However, u may try sfc, scandisk and defrag. You
should check device manager for problems and
duplication.

Boot from a windows 98 floppy boot disk:

At command prompt:

fdisk /mbr

sys c:

restart pc

Create a win98 boot floppy from bootdisk.com
