Does anyone have any experience w/BIOS Update Cards like the ATA PRO
PnP, AMI BIOS Extender, etc.?
From what I understand, they over-ride the onboard BIOS settings and
among other things allow larger HD support for older systems (I have a
Dell P133c). The larger HD support is primarily what I'm looking for,
w/o the drawbacks of Disk Manager, etc...
W/regard to larger HD support, I infer that they're sort of a hardware
analog to Disk Manager, etc. I'm using DM on another computer, but from
recent posts, I understand that DM limits the use of an HD from a
computer that uses DM on another computer that doesn't have or need
DM... I want to be able to freely share HDs among multiple computers
(P90s, P133s, and P450s) w/o having to fiddle w/software like DM.
One other question: on the Dell P90 which I've set-up a lge HD using
DM, what will I have to do to change to a BIOS update card? Will I have
to reformat it and loose the data/progs on it?
