The laptop should indicate network cable unplugged since you have a 
wireless connection and not a wired connection. You can go to network 
connections in the laptop (control panel item ?) and right click on the 
wireless connection and select repair. OR You might want to first select 
"status", to see what that indicates. My comments are based on XP and 
Vista may have somewhat different nomenclature and/or locations.
