A new partition will not effect the CMOS/Diagnostic partition created by
Compaq.  The critical thing with Partition Magic is to make sure you don't
DELETE that Compaq partition without realizing it.  It can happen.

Then again, with PM it is extremely simple to set up the diagnostic
partition again if need be.

Bottom line is that with a little common sense and care you have nothing to
worry about.
