Yes.  A printer serviceman told me this years ago.  Applies only to inkjet 
printers.

1. Use your printer at least once a week. This is particularly important in 
hot climates, as the ink will dry after several days of disuse in hot weather.

2. Remove the cartridge. Soak the ink outlet in boiling water in a small 
dish for 5 minutes. I use an old lid. Be careful not to immerse the 
electric contacts.  Dry on clean absorbent paper.  Repeat if necessary.

This can sometimes revive quite badly clogged heads.
