The solution to my problem was to download and install Tweak UI from
www.microsoft.com. Then open Tweak UI, go to 'my computer' / 'drives'. My
computer was only set to recognize through 'E' drive. I clicked on a few
more drives, applied/closed Tweak UI, and restarted the computer. Everything
works OK after that. This COULD be the solution to your problem.

I assume you have checked the power and data connections to the drive. Does
your BIOS/CMOS see the drive? Does Start/Programs/Accessories/System
Tools/System Information acknowledge the drive? If they don't, you most
likely have a hardware problem rather than an OS problem. Could even be that
the drive has internal problems.

I checked out "The Elder Geek" link and found the "tweak" I believed to be
the solution to my CD/DVD drives being non-existent........the problem
is......I don't have any Value Data to delete.  It is asking me to put in
value data.
Also, the key name is different by one (number/letter).  My first series of
numbers on the key name are:  4D36E96A (A instead of the 5)
I was so optimistic about getting the use of my CD drive back.
Could anyone help me?
