I've said it before and I'll say it again - Norton AntiVirus 2003 is not worth giving house room to.  And this is from a previously dedicated Norton supporter.

NAV 2000 was pretty unobtrusive and 2001 wasn't too bad.

2002 was beginning to get a little bit 'in-your-face', but 2003 is a distinct liability.  It causes lock-ups and freezes and impairs system performance, regardless of processor speed.

  Not sure, but I've found that the free one is not too bad after all, and
  I've since loaded another free antivirus onto another system with no
  problems, just to try them out. The other one is Anti vir. (Both have
  regular free updates, which can't be bad.)
  It's made me take another look at some of these antivirus companies and how
  much they charge for their services.
  Time will tell if these two are actually any good or not. Can't be too bad
  if they're  free though.
