I just went through a similar situation.  I have a 233 Pentium with a 2.1 gig
HD.  Everything was working ok until I installed Directx6.  Then I started
getting similar messages.  Consistently got "Sector not Found" on bootup.  I
tried to uninstall directx6 through control panel and it wouldn't work.  I
tried reinstalling directx5 and that wouldn't work either.  My HD is fine.  I
ended up formatting the HD and starting from scratch.  So far everything is
fine.  It may be that the game installed directx6 over directx5?  Any other
ideas?
