I know that the i865 is a dual memory channel chipset. Does the motherboard
manual give the go ahead to running just one module? In other words, does
this board properly support single channel memory operation?

I tried to see what was available online with regard to this issue and this
motherboard, and I didn't see anything that would would rule out single
channel operation. Still, this seems unconventional for this chipset; so,
it might be worthwhile running MemTest 86+ on this system to make sure
things are working as they should with regard to the memory.
