Hello,

Yes, you can take the Win 98 drive and put it in the Win XP machine and 
transfer files that way.

If it's an IDE hard drive it is relatively easy to add it to the other 
machine. Make sure the red line on the data cable lines up with pin one 
on the connector of the drive, and you'll have to set the Master/Slave 
jumper to Slave on the drive you add in.

You'll have to be careful about static electricity when you're inside 
your computer case, ground yourself to the power supply before reaching 
inside and touching anything.
