It is important to ID the MB before any flashing of the BIOS.
(I didn't see flashing mentioned.) The BIOS is what it is in this case.

A very early splash screen like that generally comes from the
BIOS, but that brings up other question about "why" the restore disk worked.
I would have thought EMachines would be using 
System Locked Preinstallation (OEM-SLP) install media.

The following is ONLY safe if a full backup is made first.
There was an old trick I have not thought of in years (for XP) where you
went into the registry and deleted one entire section.
That would force the OS to re-enumerate the hardware on the next boot.
It would be required to have the proper drivers on hand at that time.
It does not get around licensing and/or WPA problems and can't be used
for that.

The machine needs a good examination by someone that really knows what they are doing.

P.S. An HP BIOS will only run properly on an HP motherboard. Anything
else for BIOS code will most likely turn that mainboard into an
expensive paperweight. Motherboards are that picky.
