Hi, I looked back at your old messages.
(Well done, Excellent case history.)
If this is the same 4007m WD drive you have been formatting for
two or three months, is there any chance you could test it in another
machine, _as_a_slave_?
That might help isolate your major, ongoing problems...
If that is possible, get the WD - Data Lifeguard Tools - Diagnostics
WEB page: http://www.wdc.com/service/diagnostics.html
Program: http://www.wdc.com/service/ftp/dlgtools/dlg_diag.exe
User guide: http://www.wdc.com/acrobat/dlgusers.pdf
and test the drive in both machines, especially if it "fails" in
the first machine...
When moving a drive from one machine to another don't forget
to change the hard drive jumpers to reflect the position in the
new machine.
This works MUCH better if the drive in question is not USING
EZdrive support, and when the new computer will directly support
the drive in the BIOS. Tech note: Being installed by EZDrive - and
USING EZDrive support - are much different in the above situation.
You will need to find out which your current machine is doing.
Write back to the list if you need more help with the above.
                                              Rick
