Sorry I'm not more help, but the system with the 2 Advanced Graphics
Processors was something I looked at (but did not read thoroughly - or buy)
in a magazine like Popular Electronics. The article had a drawing that
showed the optics in detail, but the computer was just a box.

The article about switching Kerr cells (or the like) was at "This Old SGI"
(Silicon Graphics - VMEbus, not PC). See:
  http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/2258/4dfaq.html

I also saw a 3-D demonstration at a computer show, where they had a large
box (about 3 feet on each side) that ran two 21 inch monitors. If you
crossed your eyes "just right", you could see the 3-D effect. I didn't
try the VR goggles (hooked up to the same outputs as the monitors), as there
were several people waiting in line.

My guess is that this system was a VMEbus based prototype, possibly
multi-processor.
