Hi
I have two IDE identical Toshiba 40 GB notebook hdd; one is ok and the other not(formatting error at 23%).
I tried to know if the failure was in the main board of the hdd or in the other part of the hdd, including the plates, etc.
So I interchanged the boards but both hdd stopped working. Rechanging the board made everything go back to the original status, one ok, other 23% formatting error. I tried a third good hdd and no way to make one hdd works with the board of other.
I remmembered I used to make board changes to recover IDE 3.5" hdd.
Have enything changed in the last times that doesnt allow one hdd work with the board of other?
The tests were made using an external IDE to USB adapter.
TIA
Roberto
