Eric & Sheryl:

you don't mention what OS, I assume win9X or XP
for a one time transfer without opening the case, you can use a "laplink"
cable hooked to
both computer's parallel ports. It's a little slow, but it works.
Borrow one or ask at any computer store and they should be able to fix you
up.
You can use a Null modem cable on the serial ports, but that is even slower.

Also in XP or Win9x you can open help and type "direct connection" to see a
setup guide.

Another method would be to install NICs (network interface cards)  in each
PC
and use a crossover Cat5 network cable to connect them.
But that would require more cost, unless you already have NICs installed.
