If you are using Win 9x, hover the mouse pointer over the connection icon in the system tray (the two little monitors with lit screens when you're connected) and it will show you the connection speed.  Or you can doubleclick, or was it right click on that icon to get a dialog box that will show the speed?

>Need an assist.....getting old and forgetful.  Can not remember how to  check the actual speed of the modem. Currently working with a 56K but am  absolutely sure that I am not getting anywhere near that speed and want to check the actual rate.
