I wrote Jim Meagher and Rick Glazier thanking them for their input on my 2
problems (LPT1 error: Out of Paper and hissing and crackling from the
soundcard while using Dragon Naturally speaking and Rapid Comm Voice) and
forgot to mention the outcome to the mailing list.

Jim suggested that the hardware would cause an error of the sorts that I was
getting.  And yes the ribbon cable was reversed on the motherboard.  So a
quick flip and the printer works fine now.

The other problem was solved by removing the current modem (USR 56k Video
modem) and replacing with the older ext USR 33.6k.  Now the messages left on
Rapid Comm are crystal clear.  Still working on Dragon Naturally Speaking,
but will narrow it down to a cheap headset.
