Edna:

You have to jumper the drives as master and slave.
Name the make and models of the drives and we can
help you there. The drives should have the markings
or layout on them.

Also, verify Pin #1 is aligned with the colored edge of the
40-wire flat ribbon cable, on both drives and the IDE interface.

Finally, recheck the CMOS settings; the master is usually C:
and the Slave D:.
