Always make backup of your mbr and boot records. When your hdd is infected
by a boot virus there is no easiest way to clean virus than restoring mbr
and boot records from a backup copy. You can do this with some antivirus
which supports it. This procedure do not affect your partitions or any other
low level drivers. Firstly make backup of your noninfected hdd to bootable
floppy, when boot virus found just boot from this floppy and restore mbr and
boot records.
The use of fdisk /mbr or any equivalent method is the last thing you can do
and you may lose your partitions.
