An APC 725va UPS is big enough for a home user and currently
$49.95 in a local Microcenter super computer store.  YMMV...

They say on the box I'll get 21 minutes minimum if I had
a 17in CRT, but I should get up to 46 minutes since I have
an LCD monitor (@35W...)...  Last time I tested a new
APC, it gave me twice the time they said, but those days
might be long gone...
