Hi!

I've got a few questions concerning PPGA/FC-PGA processors that everbody
I've asked so far has given me conflicting info.

First, both CPU's are "clock-locked", this is a given. But I've been told
three differant "facts" on how this works!

     1) If your motherboard doesn't support that multiplier (say x8 for a
  533) for the CPU, it won't work reguardless of the Sloket adapter used.

     2) If the proper Sloket adapter is used that supports the multiplier
  and voltage, your OK.

     3) It doesn't matter. Reguardless of which clocking pin is grounded on
a PPGA/FC-PGA CPU the multiplier is set at Intel. P-n-P multiplier so to
  speak.

Anyone know where to find the documented truth?

Second, since LX motherboards and their BIOS never came close to thinking
of the concept of a Coppermine/SSE core and the manufacturers have no
information (and doesn't care to offer any) on such, is there a way of testing
the motherboard for compliance?

I've studied the "upgrade" guys who haven't seemed to do more than slap a
Sloket/CPU/Fan together and hope for the best. They may make it look as if
something special is done, but its not seen in their whitepaper.

   Anybody know what work?

   Thanks In Advance,
   Michael
