Was you Duron rated for 850, or were you overclocking it? If it is not
rated for the higher speed, then you may be damaging it due to internal
heat buildup. I know that many folks are overclocking their computers
(including me), but unless you are willing to accept such risk, you
should stay within the ratings.

When I brought my Athlon Duron I had it clocked from a 700 to an 850.
Over a period of about 6 months it became more and more unstable until
my PC was virtually un-usuable so I had to put the clock speed back to
700. I know this was not a software problem as I had reformated many
times. This raises the question of whether CPU's gradualy become more
unstable. By setting it back to 700 am I just prolonging the inevitable?
Or will it be fine from now on?
