Hi Paul,
USB 2.0 is both a hardware and software driver issue.
http://www.usb.org/data/press/press20/2001_11_12_keyspan.pdf

In the above article (link), you will see that a new USB Card is required
with appropriate chips to enable USB 2.0.
Also Intel is announcing they will be including chips that are USB 2.0
compatible in its next chipset mobo's.

You will also note that Microsoft is saying they will be providing driver
support (software), which naturally goes along with any i/o device handling.
But in this case, it is becoming obvious that 2.0 is much different than
simply changing from 1.0 to 1.1 USB and require drivers besides the 1.1 USB
drivers.

The good part is that 2.0 cards will be available, just like firewire (IE
1394) are available. It's odd that technology, such as Firewire, is
available now and is the same speed but more versatile, but no
standardization will occur for Firewire. Instead, USB 2.0 will emerge.
I supose it may be an advantage - IF the same connection chords can be used
(as the older USB).

Where will you be in 100 years? If you don't know, I can tell you. (and its
not the grave). Write me.
