  It's possible and safe, but read on....

  More and more 100 MHz boards require SPD DIMMs, which have a small
EPROM on them.  DIMMs that lack this EPROM may not be recognized
properly.

  If you run the board AT 100 MHz (most will also run at 66 MHz, and
some support additional choices...), your 66 MHz RAM may not respond
fast enough, causing many memory problems to be reported.  This is
"safe" only in that (a) the DIMMs will not be harmed by this, and (b)
you won't be able to run enough applications to endanger your data.

  So it's possible and safe, but it's really not very USEFUL.
