Most major mobo mfgrs have a web site where you can download a tiny flash program and the current BIOS update.  What usually happens is that you put the flash program and the update on a boot disk and do it from there.  The mfgrs also usually have instructions.  It isn't very difficult nowadays as the only real threat is having a power failure during the flash process that would render your mobo dead meat.
