Thanks, Tim, but the "software" is the soundcard in this case.
( Sonar 6 Producer, Reason 3.0, numerous VST's etc,..)

I am using a M Audio Delta 1010LT PCI Digital Audio Interface
for the I/O of the software.

Looks like you're missing a soundcard. I wouldn't rely on the M/B audio chipset, takes up too much CPUtime.
You'll miss out on the tweaking of frequencies.
