Sorry Terrence, all I can offer you is commiseration.  I have purchase ONE
4L and ONE 5L and they were nothing but trouble.  We removed them from
service soon after purchase.  The 6L isn't any better.  As you say, the
problem is the paper pick-up.  Also, how many times have you physically
pulled the AC cord off the back of the printer because there is no ON/OFF
switch?  Does anyone know of a more poorly designed line of printers?  I
don't.
