Hi Dave

Since I haven't seen an answer to your message, I'll give the
first part a try.

I have a "California PC Products" 400 Watt ATX power supply
with identical connectors to yours. <http://www.calpc.com/>

I believe the connector described in your paragraph 1.
is for connecting two such power supplies together to
form a "redundant hot swappable" power supply.

The other connector puzzles me as well, unless it is also
used when combining two such power supplies. See the picture at
