the whole problem could be because of lack of "drivers" though i am very puzzled as to how a "tech" could/would have overlooked this point. Also very surprised that he has reduced your RAM from 1GIG
to 512mb for win xp!!!!!!

furthermore i do not find any (frankenvidia)........

along with a new motherboard one also gets a cd containing the drivers for "onboard stuff" like video,  audio, ethernet etc, etc. and these drivers have to be loaded for the devices to work.

so IMHO the blurry video, and problem with ethernet connection, could be because of not loading the video and ethernet controller drivers.

the best way to check is to go into device manager and check for "display"... 

"network adapter" and see if they are ok.
