My suggestion would be to go to www.crucial.com and download the Belarc
Advisor, run it and this will usually identify your motherboard. The
possibility exists that you may have tried to install too much memory for
your mobo and therefore doesnt recognize it as usable memory.

Let us know how your machine fairs with Belarc.

Subject: [PCBUILD] memory upgrade

> I have an AMD K7 700Mhz processor. My computer takes PC100 memory. That is
all I know about the memory, I do not have a manual on the motherboard. I
would like to upgrade from 196mb to 512mb. I ordered 512mb PC100 from
Kingston. When I received and installed it, it did not work. How do you find
exactly what you need for memory without a manual? ECC, NON ECC, Parity, NON
Parity and so on.
