I build computers, but only ever did one 775 CPU before.
(It went fine.)
This time I'm helping a friends son.

The Stock RETAIL Intel fan will not seat properly.

The legs on the stock RETAIL CPU FAN seem short to me. (By more than 1/8th inch.)
As you click one side in, the thing rocks diagonally and pulls out the other side.
I pulled the CPU three times, and it is seated properly, and clamped in right.
(I see where it drops to and aligned the two notches.)

I'm at a little bit of a loss to figure this one out...
I am currently looking for a relatively inexpensive ($40-US) bolt-through fan
with spring loaded mount.

Anybody got any leads or ideas.
Note: It is the 4 wire plug type fan.
