I am in the process of planning to build a new computer. The planned
motherboard supports 400 MHz FSB (MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR). I am looking at the
AMD XP 2500+ (Barton) which to my knowledge runs at 166 MHz (or 333 MHz
FSB). Memory seems to be rated with the same designation (DDR 333/PC2700 and
DDR 400.PC3200). Since the CPU uses 166/333, am I wasting my money to
purchase 400 rated DDR RAM (PC 3200), or do the two buses run independantely
(in regards to speed)? What specs should I look for in RAM at either speed?
This board supports Dual Channel DDR. Does this have an impact on the RAM
selected?

On a side note, I notice that RAM prices seem to be climbing. I read that
they should fall soon. Any insight or comments?

Thanks for any comments or hints.

Jim
