Hi

Generally u need to be VERY careful when buying used hardware, especially
hardware with moving parts (eg: scanners, printers, CD-ROMs) These will have
"wear & tear" and may not function properly which is probably why the person
wants to sell them. On the other hand solid state components (eg:
motherboards,
Graphics crads, modems) are a much safer buy just check that they work before
you purchase them (I believe most countries give you 7days to check things out
and if you have a problem can return them for a full refund [I'm not a lawyer
tho])
If you want to buy a complete system make sure your getting everything they
offer you...don't be afraid to have a look under the case and check that
everything's there, just switching the PC on is no indicator of whether
they are
giving you the hardware you are paying for.
If you are not a computer Wiz then take someone along with you who is.

Cheers
