I've never bothered to check, but it seems likely that since there is heat generated inside the box that you might feel some warmth on the disk. It makes sense that it would be the part closest to the CPU, which generates the most heat.  Whether this is a problem depends on how hot the inside of your case is getting.  Doesn't sound like a problem yet. When the disks are too hot to comfortably touch or start melting it will definitely be a problem.
