Dear list,

I am trying to install HP Scanjet 5100C on a P3 running Win98.
I removed the Iomega 250mb and Canon Multipass C3000
from the LPT1 port and attached the scanner then installed the
software, just like the instructions said. (did have to get new
software from HP because the software messaged that
it was for win95 only) The software installed fine.
But when I try any of the software, windows tells me
another program is using the scanner. I have also
tried reinstalling the software.
The only programs running are the ones that come on when
win98 boots. I don't know if this is a software issue or
hardware issue....
I can't really even tell if windows knows the scanner is there.
I looked on my own pc which has an Acer scanner that works
fine, and I find nothing but the software also. Is there something
I am missing where I might find scanner properties?
I hope someone can help :) I really don't want to
try removing the printer and iomega from device manager, the
scanner is only going to be used temporarily and my friend
would like to be able to exchange the periphials at will, without
messing with device manager. I am afraid it might come to
that though. Canon Multipass has scanning capabilities and
win98 might just be wanting to see the Canon.
