Another odd duck thing about IBM/Lenovo - They tend to run customized
firmware with their laptops. If you don't get a HD specifically
configured for IBM/Lenovo you may get an annoying error message during
POST stating something to the effect that the hard drive is not
certified to work with your IBM/Lenovo laptop. I replaced the HD in
mine and I get this message but I can just ignore it.

The DVD must fit, physically, and the interface must be the same
(SATA, IDE). I haven't bought many. but there are many vendors, and
you're not limited to Lenovo.
The HD should be OK as long as the OS/BIOS can handle that size. SATA
3.0 might be a problem which you'll need to check with Lenovo.

You might want to check the Lenovo forums for issues relating to heat
if the new drive is much faster than the old one.
