Thanks Al. As you pointed out, I found Tools/Options in the Windows Media Viewer menu. The file associations in there were apparently overriding my other file associations. I found many other options in there, for instance "Send unique Player ID to content providers". Because of things such as that, I am reluctant to use Windows Media Player. Thanks also to others who responded.


Windows Media Player gives you the option to 'not open'  .WMV files.  ' Tools / Options ', then choose the 'File
Types' tab. Any file types you uncheck may need to be associated with another program. Irfanview is nice - don't
know if it's an online viewer, however. http://www.irfanview.com/
