Hi:

I have a visually impaired student in one of my computer repair classes. He is able to see just enough to recognize words if the light is right and he can peer at the object from about one inch away. He can touch type and is highly motivated to learn how to work on computers. He has a computer program that can read (articulate) PDF files and assist in Windows; he also has a part-time volunteer reader to help him.

Can anyone recommend:

   1. Specifically any works or learning aids for blind people learning how to build and repair computers (and for teachers teaching blind students)?

   2. Generally, are there any audio material on the subject, especially on DOS (this would help all students)?

I know, it seems impossible, especially when so much information is discerned by sight. Everyone who watches him work in the lab cringes when he runs his fingers across circuit boards (wearing an ESD strap) and plugs in cables by touch. But he deserves the opportunity to learn.

TIA for any help.

Regards,

John Chin
